Lourdes’ JustFaith inaugural program began October, 2009. Used in over 1,000 parishes and involving 20,000 people, JustFaith is a 30-week process that empowers participants to develop a passion and thirst for justice, and prepares them for the work of social justice ministry.
JustFaith focuses on discipleship—engagement in the life of Jesus—and the call to be about God’s dream of justice and compassion in a world scarred by the domestic and global crisis called poverty. Meeting weekly, small groups of 10–15 people employ books, videos, discussion, prayer, retreats and hands-on experiences. The intent is to provide a tapestry of learning opportunities that emphasize and enliven the healing work of God’s compassion found in scripture, church history and teaching, and faithful witnesses.
Participants are exposed to not only a substantive and demanding course of study but are also afforded the privilege of becoming community with other participants and sharing a spiritual journey of faith and compassion that is both life-giving and challenging.
The Fall 2010 30-week program begins Thursday, September 16 at 7 p.m.
